Thinking of Finishing Off Your Basement for More Room?

Drywall Installation Tips for Basements

Basement

drywall installation

is probably the most important part when it comes to finishing off a basement, and gives a sense of completeness to

a space. It is not to difficult to do, especially when tips like creating wall framing before any vertical studs are inserted are adhered to. Basement drywall sheets, however, must never be stored in the actual basement and be installed starting in a corner. The final sheet will have to be cut, in addition to seam tape and mud being used to finish the job.

The first step when it comes to installing basement drywall is creating wall frames. Unfinished basements usually come with concrete walls, however, basement drywall will not be to be attached without installing wall framing. Bottom and base plates are needed, as will vertical studs which need to be spaced out at intervals. The distance between each one will greatly depend on how big the drywall sheets are.

Although drywall is usually in sheets which are 4 x 8 feet long, their thickness does vary. Larger drywall jobs often need very thick sheets. Basement drywall sheets, however, can be done using only half an inch thick.

Once you have bought your drywall sheets, make sure you stack them as close to the basement as you can. But not in the actual basement where they are going to be eventually hung. This is because they do have to be moved a lot, which can be quite an arduous task.

When it comes to installing basement drywall, you should never start at the center of a wall. Instead, choose one corner and begin attaching the drywall sheets. A power drill will be needed in order to install drywall screws on the studs and plates. This process needs

to be performed until the entire basement has been covered. For more information on our
